As an independent, I don't tell you how to number your ballot. Your preferences are yours. I don't participate in preference deals, and I believe everyone should consider their vote closely.

Preference deals are simply agreements between candidates or parties about how they will number each other on their how-to-vote cards. These are just suggestions. You are the only one who controls where your preferences actually go – which is why you have to number every box on your ballot.
